Koshi Flood Sunsari
Jul 02 2011- Flood water in the Saptakoshi River is rising every passing day threatening the adjacent villages. Koshi Barrage control room recorded over 1 hundred and 56 thousand cusecs per second of water late in the afternoon in the River. That was the highest water level so far but by the evening the water level is said to be receding to some extent. 20 of the 56 gates of the Barrage have been opened and the red flag has been raised as warning. Locals are terrified as the water has shifted eastwards this year and has started cutting eastern embankment. The river has been continuously hitting some of the spurs alongside Prakashpur and Barahachhetra.
